LAISOLID PROJECT

New technologies for tissue regeneration and improved treatments

Development of sterile filling technologies for polymer matrices capable of containing cells and biological material in regenerative medicine therapies and likewise housing active ingredients that can be applied in tissue regeneration and the development of pharmacological treatments that improve efficiency in therapies for serious pathologies like breast cancer.

What is LAISOLID?

LAISOLID is an R&D initiative led by Laboratorios ROVI that focuses on the development of new sterile filling technologies for polymer matrices and new methodologies to accelerate the development of medicines based on predictive models. It is funded by the CDTI within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan associated to the IPCEI Med4Cure programme.

Project objectives

To develop complex polymer matrices that preserve cell viability and the structural integrity of biological material.

To design long-acting injectable formulations that can release active ingredients effectively in a manner that is sustained over time.

To establish predictive models that relate formulation parameters to clinical efficacy in order to accelerate the development of new pharmacological treatments.

To apply these technologies to improve the efficacy of therapies for serious pathologies such as, for example, breast cancer.

Lines of work

01.

Use of sterile filling technologies for polymer matrices that contain cells, biological material or active ingredients, ensuring that their structural characteristics are preserved.

02.

Development of long-acting injectable formulations (“LAIs”) that require the structure of the active ingredients to be preserved for stable release over weeks or months.

03.

Validation of predictive models that allow the clinical efficacy of the treatments to be anticipated based on the formulation parameters in therapeutic areas where effective treatments are lacking.

04.

New solutions with applications in tissue regeneration and pharmacological treatments that improve efficacy in treatments for serious pathologies like breast cancer.

05.

Collaborations with European entities within the framework of the IPCEI Med4Cure to ensure therapeutic innovation, technological deployment and therapeutic application.

IPCEI Med4CURE

Collaborations with European entities within the framework of the IPCEI Med4Cure to ensure therapeutic innovation, technological deployment and therapeutic application.

The IPCEI Med4CURE focuses on the entire pharmaceutical value chain including:

  • Addressing unmet medical needs.
  • Accelerating drug discovery and development.
  • Developing enhanced tools for drug discovery and preclinical and clinical activities.
  • Promoting a robust and well-prepared biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Promoting innovation in production processes that improve sustainability.

Med4Cure includes 14 projects that involve 11 Associated Partners in four Member States (Belgium, Netherlands, Poland and Spain). The LAISOLID project, led by ROVI as an Associated Partner, addresses key challenges such as:

The development of sterile filing technologies for use in regenerative medicine and new treatments.

The design of solutions with applications in tissue regeneration and long-acting injectable formulation (LAIs).

New focus on developing medicines based on predictive models.

This project reinforces ROVI’s commitment to European autonomy in healthcare matters and collaborative intra-Community innovation.
